WHAT IS THE MENOPAUSE?
The reality is that it's not an illness, but a phase in a woman's biological cycle. At one point, she starts menstruating, which we call menarche, and at another point, they stop. This is due to hormonal changes that occur during a period known as the climacteric, during which other manifestations appear, such as hot flushes or increased bone fragility.
The climacteric is a transitional period that lasts for years, before and after the menopause, due to the exhaustion of the ovaries, associated with a decrease in estrogen production, which over the years loses its ability to produce hormones, follicles and oocytes.
